Saturday 5 December – Working with Autism. Working with Autism with Frank Forman.
This will be a very practical day. • We will look at and explore ways to work practically with special needs children and what they present. • What are Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD)? • Develop a greater understanding of ASD from both a western and eastern perspective. • Look at the legal and ethical aspect of working with children • How to make a living in this field, and how to approach schools About Frank Forman
Frank is a graduate of the BSS-Do. He has been working with special needs children in schools for several years. He has spoken at the National Autistic Society and Children and Complementary Therapy Network (CCTN) Conference where he described his work with children with autism in a Special Needs School setting and how Shiatsu has benefited them.
Frank has found this work to be a huge learning experience. He says: “The children that I work with have been labelled with Autism, Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Attention Deficit Hyper Active Disorder - ADHD”. He has noted that many of the children have an underlying emotion of fear and highlights the importance of working with respect and compassion.
